Mission Statement

Driven by the need to improve students’ writing performance, a series of WEGO technology-based graphic organizers (TBGOs) were developed. These web-based tools embed evidence-based and research-based strategies in order to improve the quantity and quality of essay writing across the curriculum for students with and without high-incidence disabilities in upper elementary and middle schools. The strategies include video models, strategy instruction, self-regulated learning strategies, educational games, artificial intelligence, and UDL supports. In addition, WEGO supports teachers in writing instruction and offers opportunities for data-driven decision making.

Over 12 years of research and development were supported by various federal grants from the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education.
